Accountant I & II

National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders (NALCAB) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that strengthens the economy by advancing economic mobility in Latino communities. NALCAB is a growing multi-million-dollar national organization that provides its members with loans, grants, technical assistance, and policy advocacy. NALCAB’s members are non-profit small business lenders, affordable housing developers, and financial capability service providers located in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. NALCAB provides technical assistance to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Your Role:

Our Accounting Department is seeking a broad range of experienced candidates to fill the following positions: Accountant I and Accountant II.

As an Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring accounting transactions are entered timely and accurately; the books are closed and consolidated financial statements prepared within established timelines; grant and budget versus actual reports are prepared and reviewed with program staff; financial statements are prepared according to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); and expenditures comply with uniform guidance principles under 2 CFR 200. This role may also require supervision and/or management of staff.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a hybrid role, however you will be required to be on-site on Tuesdays & Thursdays at our San Antonio location.

You should have:

·         0-5 year of experience and knowledge of accounting concepts and principles.

·         Initiative; excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·         Experience using software (Excel, Word, NetSuite, QuickBooks).

·         High attention to detail and accuracy.

·         Proficiency in bookkeeping and accounting processes.

·         Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

·         Preferred: Non-profit accounting experience (restricted/unrestricted funds, revenue releases, project accounting, grant reporting)

Your key responsibilities and duties of our Accountants will include:

·         Review, process, and record accounting transactions such as donor reimbursement invoices, vendor bills, credit card charges, and expense reports.

·         Ensure that accounts payable and accounts receivable are entered and that all journals and accounting ledgers are adjusted and accurate.

·         Ensure correct and timely period-end close and reporting, including year-end coordination with external auditors.

·         Prepare complete and accurate financial statements for multiple entities.

·         Assist with organizational budgets and cash forecasts in collaboration with other staff.

·         Assist with external income tax preparation.

·         Recommend improvements to current practices and procedures.

·         Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested.

Salary Pay Range:

·         Accountant I: $50,000 – $60,000(depending on experience)

·         Accountant II: $60,000 – $80,000(depending on experience)
