Manager, Accounting Services – Remote

Our client manages a variety of privately held legal entities relating to real-estate, debt and equity investments, royalties, and services-based and is responsible for providing financial back office services, including a full range of accounting services, treasury, tax, insurance, and credit & collections to several independent associated companies.

To be successful as the Manager, Account Services, you must have strong annual and quarterly financial statements preparation and monthly close procedures experience, good professional judgement, as well as have:   

  • Proficiency with SAP on-premise or SAP by Design, or able to quickly learn the accounting software used by the organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint with Advance to Expert level knowledge in Excel, such as, the ability to create and modify pivot tables, strong knowledge of formulas and functionality of vlookup, sumifs, text to columns, etc. required.
  • Thorough understanding of and the ability to adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA degree required; with at least 5-years general accounting experience or related discipline experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

As the Manager, Accounting Services, you will utilize your skills and talents to successfully perform the following:

  • Responsible for all accounting and reporting related to various legal entities. With respect to certain investments in operating companies:
    • Understanding contractual obligations and rights and advocating for same
    • Understand financial and operating model of invested companies
    • Bringing opportunities and concerns to management in regular update meetings
  • Full financial management for companies including:
    • Cash Management and cash forecasting
    • Ensuring timely payment of amounts due
    • Making / checking journal entries
    • Budgeting
    • Understanding contractual obligations and rights and advocating for same
  • Preparation of annual financial statements and footnote disclosures as well as quarterly internal and/or external reporting requirements.
  • Manage and coordinate monthly close process.
  • Monthly issuance of financial statements to Director, Finance and Accounting and VP of Finance and financial analysts including preparation of PowerPoint package sent to Board of Directors.
  • Assist in preparation of long-term planning analyses.
  • Prepare financial analysis relating to various P&L line items and regularly review with management.
  • Participate in internal control initiatives. Effective and timely communication with management on all issues associated with account analysis, project work and financial reporting.
  • Investigate and follow-up on reconciling items in account analysis.
  • Ensure that transactions are reported in accordance with GAAP and research items that may have been classified incorrectly.
  • Proactively identify areas for continuous improvement in accounting processes, inconsistencies in accounting and reporting procedures.
  • Assist with other adhoc projects.
