Back Office Receptionist

Berenson Cancer Center is one of the only outpatient medical clinics devoted exclusively to multiple myeloma cancer treatment and research. Led by world-renowned oncologist and researcher, James R. Berenson, MD., Berenson Cancer Center is a pioneer in creating cutting-edge treatments for patients with myeloma and associated blood cancers. This clinic is located near Beverly Hills in the Sunset Medical Tower in West Hollywood, California, USA.

We are seeking a Back-Office Receptionist with a strong personality to keep the office moving at top performance. As an ideal candidate, you should have:

  • 1+ years of experience in a medical clinic in a front office role
  • Knowledgeable of HIPPA requirements
  • Knowledge in MS Office
  • Professional and team oriented
  • Ability to take the initiative along with the ability to work with very little direction.
  • Bilingual in Spanish & English preferred

Your responsibilities as the Back Office Receptionist will include:

  • Answer phones, makes outgoing calls as instructed by Dr. Berenson to either patients or doctors. Phones lines are busy from 8 am -12 pm.
  • Check patients in; verify that insurance, address, etc. have not changed. Notify nurse assistant that patients have arrived so she can proceed with medical check in process.
  • Checks patients out and schedule new appointments in the scheduling system.
  • Arranges for patient’s testing (ie; xrays, MRI)
  • Collects payments and copayments. Completes collection log at the end of clinic for uploading to billing department’s online folder.
  • Manages the clinic’s schedule to balance or fill gaps that may exist. Coordinates with Dr. Berenson’s assistant to ensure that his calendar aligns with the clinic’s calendar.
  • Takes all new patient information (ie; SS #, Insurance information, name, address). Instructs them as to what medical records they need to provide; organizes documents in patient’s charts accordingly. 
  • Manages Records received via fax for Dr. Berenson’s review.
  • Prints superbills for the next day’s clinic and properly identifies those that are clinical trials related for our billing department to process them accordingly.
  • Pulls charts for the next clinic day and puts the superbill in each chart.
  • Organizes medical records requests
  • Prints and distributes schedule for next clinic day to Dr. Berenson and nurses.
  • Closes office at the end of day.
