Our client is a leading association for the investment community and has been since 1937. Their mission is to serve all members’ needs and educate the investing public via their premier forum. Today, with a community of more than 12,000 members, they are seeking out an Events & Programming Director who will promote the vision, strategy, and long-term management approach for their events and programming.

The events and programming function delivers value to our client’s members by providing both support for career development and by providing a focal point for community engagement.  The Director partners with volunteer leaders and external partners to organize and deliver quality events and programming while, internally, the Director oversees and provides direct support for all planning and logistics for events and programming .. and partners with other team members to ensure successful marketing and promotion for these programs. 

The Director reports to the Executive Director and works directly with project managers, volunteer leaders, board members and informs promotional strategies to reach and engage new and existing audiences. Like all director level positions this role serves as a member of the leadership team.

The successful candidate must have a demonstrated ability and passion for developing programs, as well as planning and managing events that provide high value to attendees, as well as to potential members.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with internal and external partners to produce, plan and schedule a robust calendar of events and programming for the designated audience.
  • Oversee and directly contribute to the execution of events and programming, regardless of size or format (i.e., in-person, hybrid, virtual) to drive revenue and engagement, and to build our community of volunteers, and other constituents.
  • Managing event logistics, including supervision of junior event and programming team members
  • Develop and track accurate audience registration, budgets, and revenue while improving processes and procedures to ensure efficiently run events and programs.
  • Communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders including board members, volunteer leaders, gatekeepers, third-party partners, and staff teams to ensure proper messaging, timing, and execution of the plan and support of specific events.
  • Ensure member voices are fully integrated in, and member participation is maximized across all streams (including programs, communications, external affairs, etc.)
  • Work with Marketing to conduct outreach to existing members and new members on a regular basis to ensure members are appreciating the value of their membership.
  • Design the annual Events Calendar, working with directors, Programming Committee to ensure the calendar is well balanced, with clear points of contact for each individual project.
  • Work with Programming Committee to continually ensure events are clearly defined with transparent goals and metrics and adjust according to business needs/data.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in producing, organizing and managing successful events
  • Demonstrated ability to generate revenue through events and programming
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Strong use of Microsoft Office; also, demonstrated skills using databases (Cvent and Salesforce) desired 
  • Superior customer service and strong project management skills
  • Must be extremely proactive and reliable
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with excellent email etiquette
  • Must possess strong attention to detail with the ability to work on several projects simultaneously, while meeting deadlines
  • Ability to work flexible hours as necessary
  • 15% local travel

Compensation:

  • Base Salary Range $100K-$105K annually
