Learning Experience Developer

The Public Health Foundation (PHF), a national, non-profit organization dedicated to improving public health and population health practice to support healthier communities, is seeking a Learning Experience Developer to design and develop training for the Performance Management and Quality Improvement (PMQI) Unit. The Learning Experience Developer will report to the Director of Performance Management and Quality Improvement.

A significant responsibility for this individual is to develop immunization eLearning, such as synchronous and asynchronous web-based training, videos, podcasts, and supplemental training tools as part of PHF’s Immunization Program, in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Future opportunities to support additional programs are expected.

The Learning Experience Developer needs to be an energetic self-starter who can function comfortably in a team environment or independently and relates well to co-workers and clients. This position requires flexibility and the ability to manage time appropriately while working across projects.

Your responsibilities as the Learning Experience Developer will include:

  • Collaborate with team members, contractors, and subject matter experts to design and develop new eLearning products or activities
  • Work with eLearning design and development software applications to develop web-based training
  • Conceptualize and implement ideas for educational delivery methods in full-length format or mini/micro-lessons
  • Analyze training needs
  • Develop and refine learning objectives
  • Determine video, image, graphic, and infographic content for videos
  • Edit, refine, and finalize scripts and storyboards
  • Develop interactive components (knowledge checks; links to resources)
  • Develop pre- and post-assessment and evaluation
  • Create certificates, if needed
  • Ensure 508 compliance
  • Apply universal design solutions that support accessibility standards in learning experience design
  • Gather and analyze user feedback related to user experiences
  • Test eLearning products, discovering and addressing bugs or usability problems. Fixes problems before final release to end users.
  • Offer technical, creative, and logistical recommendations to teammates and externally
  • Keep PMQI Director informed about progress, milestones, potential and emerging challenges, and feedback from partners and clients.
  • Organize and maintain program files and databases.
  • Collaborate with PMQI staff on developing and achieving unit objectives and targets.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the PMQI Director or PHF President.

To be successful, you should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Adult Education, Instructional Design, or related field preferred
  • Experience with Adobe Captivate required, experience with other online learning authoring tools a plus
  • Understanding of instructional design processes and practices
  • Demonstrated expertise in successfully applying adult learning theory in curriculum development
  • Understanding of instructor-led and self-paced online learning a plus
  • Experience with health-related activities is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks, competing demands, and responsibilities with competing priorities.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently but also function effectively as a member of a team.
