SUMMARY
This position provides strategic leadership to Workers’ Compensation claims program, including vendor management, claims processing, procedures, and staff. Collaborates closely with business unit leaders across the company using input from key stakeholders as well as client feedback and external consultants to drive continuous improvement and enhancement to obtain operational efficiency, profitability, and client and employee satisfaction. Develops and implements policies, processes, and quality standards for management of operations in alignment with company policy and culture, for instituting a communications framework that ensures that all internal and external constituencies are appropriately involved with and informed of progress and status.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Under minimal supervision and heavy decision-making:
- Develops and executes company’s strategy on Insperity’s workers’ compensation claims program with input from cross-functional stakeholders.
- Designs, directs and monitors Workers’ Compensation claims operational structure, workflows, processing and procedures for optimal efficiency and employee experience.
- Recommends and implements efficiencies and enhancements to optimize Workers’ Compensation claims strategies and minimize risk to Insperity.
- Proactively identifies and builds inclusive and collaborative partnerships across clients, Service Organization, Third Party Administrator (TPA), Managed Care Organization (MCO), carrier, outside counsel, and other outside consultants (“stakeholders”) to ensure outstanding long-term outcomes for Insperity, its worksite employees, and its clients from Insperity’s workers’ compensation claims program.
- Manages, plans, and leads select claim reviews in conjunction with stakeholders. Leads the follow-up activities related to the review.
- Manages and monitors large value and complex claims and leads the action planning to satisfactory resolution, including communication to all stakeholders.
- Leads contract negotiation and manages future growth and personnel changes with vendors.
- Develops and delivers customized claim service packages, including specialized Return to Work Programs, for clients with significant workers compensation exposures.
- Coordinates the development of policies and procedures with other internal and external customers that involve activities in the Workers’ Compensation Group.
- Develops and prepares clear, concise, accurate management reports and presentations, utilizing the Department’s and TPA’s Risk Management Information Systems (RMIS).
- Provides employees with timely, candid, and constructive feedback; develops employees to their full potential; recognizes and rewards employees for accomplishments; prepares and conducts annual performance reviews.
- Provides key leadership within the Property & Casualty Services Department by working effectively with other department leaders to improve operational efficiency, profitability, and client and employee satisfaction.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree required; degree specialization in Risk Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Ten or more years of experience in the PEO industry and/or the workers’ compensation claims field preferred.
- Vendor and project management experience is required.
- Five or more years of supervisory experience is required.
- Workers’ Compensation related certifications preferred.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- 20% travel required
