Retirement Services Inter-Team Specialist

We are currently seeking a Retirement Services Inter-Team Specialist to join our team. 


This position is responsible for working directly with the Insperity 401(k) Plan Operations group to help fill capacity needs in all tasks of the team. This role ensures timely delivery and accurate information to each and every client/participant.


Under general supervision and moderate decision-making:

  • Processes daily contribution files including coordination with Finance and other Insperity departments as needed.
  • Processes the indicative file in a timely manner.
  • Calculates and processes qualified domestic relationship orders.
  • Executes the necessary changes to all systems affected when plan document amendments are executed.
  • Performs timely and accurate processing of de-conversions, plan terminations and plan freezes including coordination with and communication to clients, third party administrators and other internal Insperity departments.
  • Reviews other team members’ work for quality as needed.
  • Manages the conversion process for simple, noncomplex plans from routine vendors and plans in accordance with the established processes/procedures, and the department’s business objectives and standards.
  • Establishes timelines for setup and conversion, conducts client implementation calls, sets expectations for deliverables, and notifies relevant internal units and clients once conversion is complete. Escalates all data issues and concerns to applicable personnel.
  • Works closely with other departments on existing clients  that undergo a business structure, ownership, or organizational change to prevent interruption in 401(k) plan deductions and calculations. Manages the implementation process of new clients related to existing clients by common ownership, referral, and other commonalities.
  • Maintains Insperity’s  client management system used to track and manage progress milestones that allows leadership to monitor the status of plan implementations and plan changes.
  • Establishes plans in all Insperity systems, including the payroll/HCM system, 401(k) plan recordkeeping system and applicable third-party applications.   


  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor’s Degree is preferred. 
  • Three to five years of experience in the retirement services field is required. 


One or more relevant professional designations (e.g., CPC, QPA, QKA, CEBS, CPA, APA) preferred .


  • Communicates tactfully and effectively, orally and in writing, and maintains effective work relations with those encountered in the course of employment.
  • Familiar with modern office methods, practices, procedures and equipment, as well as filing systems and business letter writing. Familiar with correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic.
  • Understanding of 401(k) plans, including ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, and relevant regulations.
  • Understanding of the Professional Employer Organization (PEO) industry.
  • Understanding of 401(k) plans that allow several adopting employers, such as MEPs and PEPs.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills and attention to detail. 
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to multi-task.
  • Experience in team dynamics.
