Today, We Are Looking For
The Sr. Manager, Marketing & Communications (Energy Transition) is responsible for supporting the development and execution of marketing and communications strategies designed to advance the Partnership’s initiative to accelerate global solutions for a low-carbon future. Sr. Manager, Marketing & Communications (Energy Transition) also supports the efforts of our Energy Transition Division and the Houston Energy Transition Initiative (HETI).

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Under the general direction of the Director, Marketing and Communications, the Sr. Manager will:

  • Develop and execute strategic marketing and communications strategies including:
    • Energy transition branding and message development
    • Public relations and advertising campaigns
    • Social and digital media campaigns
    • Grassroots and non-conventional awareness/image-building efforts
  • Oversee the planning and creation of all content marketing initiatives, in conjunction with the Partnership’s in-house content team, to drive traffic, engagement, and amplify messaging that advances Houston and HETI’s efforts to be seen and understood as a solutions-partner in addressing climate change, emissions reduction, and low-carbon business development.
  • Collaborate with Sr. Manager, Media, and external PR firm to generate positive media coverage of Houston’s leadership role in the energy transition in major local, national, and international media outlets.
  • Oversee the development of all marketing communications elements for all energy transition and HETI events and sponsorships.
  • Oversee website strategy for energy transition-related sections and microsite on the Houston.org website.
  • Develop and maintain strategic and external relationships with appropriate marketing allies, corporate communications contacts, and media representatives to publicize and advocate for the Partnership’s energy transition efforts.     
  • Oversee the organization’s publications agreement with Hart Energy and other energy-related media and publications.
  • Develop an action plan for the Partnership’s Energy Transition messaging that supports HETI’s branding and communications efforts.
  • Track campaign effectiveness by reviewing metrics such as website hits, social media engagement, and conducting perception surveys.
  • Closely monitor energy transition events and media – locally, nationally, and globally, and adjust strategies, as needed, to keep the strategy relevant and fresh.
  • Manage external marketing partners such as advertising agencies, digital marketing firms, and production companies.
  • Effectively interface with internal and/or external graphic designers, digital media specialists, and project teams.
  • Manage brand standards and usage guidelines and assist with integrating campaigns with brand consistency.
  • Oversee energy transition marketing budget in conjunction with the SVP, Marcom, and SVP, Energy Transition.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are desirable for job success:

  • Energetic and passionate about Houston
  • Working knowledge of the energy transition, Houston’s energy industry, and national/global energy issues
  • Excellent writing and speaking ability
  • An aptitude for selling ideas
  • Excellent written communications skills required, composition, writing, grammar, and spelling
  • Proven track record that demonstrates public relations and business-to-business marketing skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, analytical, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Preference for working with internal and external contacts at all levels
  • Ability to prioritize simultaneous assignments and manage projects to completion
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Executes with excellence by consistently delivering on promises to the highest standard
  • Professional appearance
  • Collaborative both internally and externally; works with others to achieve common goals
  • Advanced level proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Nimble/Flexible to work some overtime and/or work on additional projects, as necessary
  • Some light travel may be required

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Communications- Preferred 

Required Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in Marketing, PR, Communications, or related field required.
