Staff Accountant

To continue the growth of their group, our client is seeking a Staff Accountant in La Porte, TX.  

 

To be successful, you should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
  • 4+ years of experience in Accounting 
  • Supply chain logistics industry knowledge preferred
  • Dynamic personality with strong interpersonal skills 
  • Solid time-management and organizational skills   
  • Demonstrates high integrity and confidentiality
  • Ability to multi-task and adhere to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Willing to travel nationally and internationally if needed
  • Proficient in Citrix or SAP/Oracle preferred
  • Excellent computer skills, including PowerPoint, MS Word, and Excel

 

Your responsibilities as the Staff Accountant will include:

  • Utilize knowledge of US GAAP
  • Assist with Corporate Accounting functions, including general accounting of multiple entities within the same business unit
  • Assist with the month-end close process for all entities in coordination with the A/P Coordinator and Accounting Manager
  • Lead the month-end close process for four entities in coordination with the Accounting Manager and A/P Coordinator
  • Manage cash application process for customer accounts
  • Process same-day payments as needed via wire or company credit card
  • Process customer statements on the 15th and EOM
  • Process Accounts Payable AMEX transactions in Financials
  • Process new hires in the expense management system
  • Manage corporate credit card statement distribution
  • Generates a variety of weekly, semi-monthly, monthly, and quarterly reports and assists with the reconciliations for Accounting
  • Identifies issues attributing to account delinquency and discusses them with management
  • Ensure compliance with purchasing procedures
  • Performs other administrative/support duties to assist the team as assigned
