Virtual English Language Learner Teacher of Record – Hoosier College and Career Academy
Indiana, Statewide

The Virtual English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher of Record is responsible for providing instruction and professional support to assigned students, families, and teaching staff.  The ELL Teacher of Record applies sound language acquisition principles to program development and delivery, maintaining state and federal compliance

Education/Knowledge /Experience Requirements: 

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in education
  • Valid Indiana teaching license with English New Learning (ENL) certification
  • Successful experience working with EL students
  • Ability to manage, analyze, and disaggregate data to develop, implement, and track intervention plans and strategies.
  • Fluency in spoken and written Spanish is desired, not required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, organization, and understanding of confidentiality

Essential Duties:

  • Conduct live synchronous instruction based on identified services contained in the student’s Individual Learning Plan (ILP).
  • Develop lesson plans, adapt the curriculum to meet individual student needs, and utilize effective EL teaching techniques into productive student learning experiences.
  • Complete and maintain assigned students’ Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and progress monitoring according to the school Title III service delivery plan. 
  • Maintain parent connections to keep parents involved in the student’s education.
  • Assist in gathering and reporting data for reporting requirements and other required reports.
  • Assist in administering required language proficiency (WIDA) and academic achievement tests for determining placement.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to ensure students are progressing in all classes.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of identified accommodations. 
  • Assist with coordinating and leading parent outreach opportunities.

Additional Professional Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparation for state standardized testing (phone calls, materials pick-up, and return.)
  • Travel to assigned locations for test administration.
  • Participate in scheduled staff meetings and professional development. 
  • Travel to required face-to-face activities.
  • Assist in gathering and reporting data for reporting requirements and other required reports
  • Follow school’s Employee Handbook, including PTO Policy and Procedures
  • Other assigned duties.
