Bilingual Program Manager, Education

As the Bilingual Program Manager, you will be a member of the Education team, which creates software-driven programs and products delivered to students in Challenger Learning Centers and K-12 school settings. You will help develop these programs and products or components of our programs and products. You will be expected to creatively develop and design content, curriculum, and standards alignment. You will also work closely with the broader Education team, other Challenger Center teams, Challenger Learning Centers, partner organizations, and vendors. Additionally, you will work within established program/project budgets and timelines and develop and manage smaller-scale projects.

To be successful, you should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; science field strongly preferred.
  • 3-5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience as an elementary and middle school educator in an informal or formal environment is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of space science preferred.
  • Spanish fluency required (ability to speak, write and translate).
  • Ability to level text to meet the needs of students at different grade levels.
  • Experience in the Education Technology field a plus.
  • Experience with accessibility/508 compliance for educational programs a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines and shift priorities and resources as needed.
  • Strong knowledge of K-12 science content and the ability to interpret and convey complex science concepts to students, stakeholders, and vendors.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop programs aligned with current national education standards, especially Next Generation Science Standards.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Experience with evaluating education program impact a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with external vendors and partners.
  • Commitment to work collaboratively with all staff across all teams.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently.
  • Strong computer skills, especially in the Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML 5 and Adobe Creative Cloud programs preferred.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10%-15% of the time, with the potential for periodic additional travel.

Your key responsibilities as the Bilingual Program Manager, Education include:

Program Design and Development:

  • Design, develop, and deliver education programs and products emphasizing science content integration.
  • Implement an evaluation plan for each program/product.
  • Participate in the quality control process. Complete tasks that need adjustment before the program/product can be considered final.
  • Create professional development resources for teachers, as needed.
  • Identify and leverage resources from partners such as NASA, NOAA, and corporations. Assist with gaining permissions as needed.
  • Identify, interact with, and incorporate information from subject matter experts in various fields into Challenger Center products and programs.
  • Test products, programs, and software components for accuracy, efficiency, and potential improvement.
  • Collaborate with program implementers, including Challenger Learning Centers, program partners, consultants, universities, and evaluators.
  • Implement project plans for all grant-funded programs, ensuring program and reporting deadlines and goals are met completely, accurately, and timely. Collect data as needed for the reporting process.
  • Collaboratively write elementary and middle school science content with the assistance of subject matter experts. Implement NGSS philosophies and approaches to existing and new Challenger Center mission content.

Management

  • Collaborate and share timelines/project plans with teams across the headquarters office on all products and programs.
  • Support the development of grant proposals, including drafting content and researching potential partners.
  • Interact with external consultants and partners as needed regarding milestones and deliverables. Draft communications and provide any required research.
  • For school-based programs, provide the information needed to identify potential partners. Provide required information after establishing a relationship for piloting and implementing programs and evaluation.
  • Follow Challenger Center’s Project Management Process for each education program/product development project.
  • Support the development of annual department plans and goals. Execute plans to meet goals.
  • Work within established program/project budgets and timelines. Assist in the development of annual budget(s) as requested.
  • Develop and manage smaller-scale projects. This includes managing budgets and timelines, ensuring deliverables are completed on time, and coordinating with other teams as needed.
  • As required, draft reporting documents for key stakeholders, including the board of directors and grantors/funders. Collect information and appropriate data from appropriate teams. Ensure reports are accurate and on time.
  • Work with outside contractors/vendors as directed.

Administrative

  • Represent Challenger Center at conferences, meetings, and special events, as requested (participant/attendee).
  • Keep abreast of relevant industry trends and best practices in STEM education, NGSS implementation strategies, space science, education technology, nonprofits, etc., and share knowledge with others.
  • Identify and share funding and partnership opportunities and assist with proposals as needed.
  • Attend staff meetings, assist with office support, and participate in professional networking and team-building activities. Support other administrative duties as needed.
  • Submit accounting and original receipts to Accounting Department each month on or before the due date
  • Accurately report time spent on projects, PTO, sick, etc., on time.
