Economic Data Analyst

The firm is retained by prestigious law firms and top-rated insurance carriers as an expert economist with experience testifying in litigation matters. Our client’s team includes economists, forensic economists, financial professionals, and education professionals with extensive consulting and expert witness experience focused on economic damages analysis, forensic economics, and other economic, forensic, and statistical analysis. They provide litigation consulting and analysis services to attorneys representing individuals, insurance companies, corporations, and private or public (government and non-government) entities in various complex litigation matters across the United States.

As the Economic Data Analyst, you will support the work and analysis of the company’s founder, who is retained as an expert economist and works alongside other team members in matters involving the analysis of economic and financial losses in legal disputes. 

To succeed, you should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics required 
  • 3-5 years of experience and knowledge of the legal field from a background in economic consulting is a plus 
  • Demonstrated intermediate user knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated intermediate knowledge user of Adobe Pro DC
  • Interest and demonstrated knowledge of financial records (tax returns, W-2 records, 1099 forms, K-1 forms, Profit & Loss Statements, employment, payroll, and other types of Human Resources records)
  • Understanding of employment fringe benefits
  • Excellent communications skills – verbal and writing (high command of English writing)
  • Significant attention to detail is a must
  • Knowledge and experience in programming languages such as SAS, STATA, or SPSS is a plus

Your responsibilities as the Economic Data Analyst will include tasks such as:

  • Review of documents received as part of litigation discovery to expert economist
  • Process and summarize economics, financial, and legal data and documents such as researched economic indicators, employee benefits plans, tax returns and other records, human resources generated data, legal complaints, Bills of Particulars, Depositions, Judgments, and other documents as it may pertain to the work conducted by the firm
  • Review of reports by other experts and analyze corresponding data, assumptions, and calculations
  • Conduct research as required for any specific engagement or to the benefit of the knowledge base of the firm
  • Manage the client document production (once documents are received, this implies a thorough review, reorganizing, renaming, bookmarking, and rearranging pages in PDF documents and other types of documents);
  • Reconstruct and replicate analyses performed by opposing expert economists or designated economic damages experts
  • Create a detailed index of records received/research, etc.
  • Proofreading expert reports and other work products generated by the firm
  • Assist with preparation and proofreading presentations or expert writing to be submitted for publication consideration
  • Assist with research and update of data and statistics related to expert damages analysis
  • Maintain and update the electronic library of resources
  • Work alongside all team members for quality control of expert reports and other work products prepared for clients
  • Other possible tasks related to the work that AEA regularly conducts
