This position is responsible for working with Finance management to define strategic vision and strategy for finance technology, including business processes, supporting technology application and business intelligence (BI) solutions to meet the Finance department technology, reporting and analysis needs. Collaborates with Finance and Innovative Technology Solutions (ITS) personnel to ensure the Finance department’s technology needs are defined, appropriate solutions are testing, deployed, and functioning as designed.  Defines and communicates technical support and project needs, technical standards and procedures for the Finance department. Proactively assists in defining direction for future projects.

    Manages the  team responsible for finance technology software in areas such as new functionality, production support, upgrades and overall understanding related to Insperity applications used by finance team members, such as but not limited to HCM systems (AIMS and Workday), Lawson, SalesForce, OneStream, WebFocus, Tracker, and MasterTax. 

    Develops and recruits multi-skilled teams with strong interpersonal and customer centric skills to work collaboratively to support Finance  business objectives. 

    Leads the assigned Finance Technology team in partnership with finance leadership to perform collaboratively with clear objectives to achieve goals in a dynamically changing environment.  

    Works with multiple Finance leaders ,team member experts and outside vendors to analyze technology needs and design effective solutions utilizing methodologies including, but not limited to the following concepts:

  •    Leads the documentation of the process and limitations to initiate project plan and vision meetings.
  •    Defines business needs as well as user and functional requirements.
  •    Performs situation analysis and recommendations for problem solving.
  •    Conceives solutions, builds consensus, and sells/executes solutions.
  •    Directs and coordinates work of others to develop, test, install, and modify programs.
  •    Creates or assists others in the writing of user documentation, instructions, and procedures.
  •    Monitors and documents post-implementation problems and revision requests.
  •    Identifies opportunities and issues related the impact on other departments. 

    Builds relationships to embrace change and promote the department’s commitment to high standards.

    Acts as a business leader providing direction to the finance  ITS, promotes efficient channels of communication between personnel, establishes maintenance and implementation processes that bring appropriate resources to projects in a timely manner.

    Ensures accurate deliverables for high quality sustainable projects, new functionality and reports are delivered to the Finance department through self-testing and user acceptance testing. This includes preparing test plans and project management of the business resources for the testing, if necessary. 

    Works with team members to develop project plans including vision, scope, timelines, requirements, development, deployment, testing, maintenance and updates/upgrades.  Regularly communicates progress to business users. 

    Designs and implements data delivery solutions to support Finance reporting and analytics needs.

    Researches proactively and locates the necessary tools and processes to identify technology-related issues as they develop, analyzes/predicts trends and develops a long-range plan designed to anticipate and resolve issues and prevent recurrence.

    Develops, coordinates, and implements plans to test business and functional processes during system development and quality assurance testing.

    Designs and assists with implementation of technology solutions to improve business processes by automating and/or streamlining finance transactions with IT systems.  

    Leads change in various projects intended to continually improve/upgrade the department’s technology effectiveness and its impact on other departments.

    Prepares and distributes reports on a timely basis to pertinent personnel and management.

    Maintains and/or develops system documentation, data integration processes and user training.

    Stays abreast of finance technology and recommends future system enhancements and/or system upgrades.

    Develops, coaches, mentors, and leads team members for sustained performance through continuous feedback.  Communicates expectations in a way that that connects people, tasks, and resources to achieve business objectives.  Has an in-depth understanding of team roles to attain quality results.

    Develops skill level of individuals through demonstrated leadership, mentoring, development, planning, and performance management.

    Participates in group mentorship opportunities – lead by example.

    Builds inclusive and collaborative relationships with team and peers across the department to achieve common goals.

    A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Information Systems is required.  

    Seven or more years progressive experience in administration of financial management systems is required.  

    Lawson Financial management/administration experience is required. 

    Payroll systems/tax system experience is required. Strong understanding of Professional Employer Organizations. 

    Prior managerial and system implementation experience are preferred. 


    Excellent organizational skills and an ability to learn new concepts quickly.

    Demonstrable analytical and statistical skills.  

    A positive attitude, with a sense of urgency directed toward the provision of successful solutions for specific projects.

    Originality, ingenuity, aptitude and strong knowledge of the business analysis field in order to complete moderately complex assignments, effectively analyze problems and generate working solutions. 

    Clear understanding of business processes and value propositions and able to provide strategic guidance to project teams. 

    Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills at all management levels and possesses a strong desire to succeed as a team.

    Adaptability in an ever-changing software development environment.

    Demonstrated basic knowledge of business and technical modeling methodologies (e.g., business process modeling, data modeling).
