As the Quantitative Analyst, you will develop and enhance analytical tools and models to support mortgage and interest rate analytics, leveraging your technical expertise and coding skills. You will collaborate with the trading and analytics team to analyze complex datasets, optimize strategies, and provide actionable insights. Your work will improve decision-making processes and drive the firm’s success in the mortgage REIT space.
To thrive as a Quantitative Analyst, you should have:
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or Engineering.
- 1–5 years in quantitative finance, analytics, or related fields, focusing on mortgage modeling and fixed-income markets.
- Proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib) and advanced Excel (including VBA); experience with SQL and API integration is a plus.
- Familiarity with mortgage-backed securities (MBS), prepayment analysis, yield curve modeling, and interest rate instruments.
- Experience working with large datasets and financial data platforms like Bloomberg or similar.
- CFA designation or progress toward CFA preferred; an advanced degree (Master’s in Financial Engineering, Data Science, or a related field) is a plus.
Your responsibilities as the Quantitative Analyst will include:
Tool Development & Coding
- Design, develop, and maintain robust analytical tools to support mortgage and interest rate trading strategies.
- Build and enhance Excel-based tools for MBS analysis, integrating with Python-based analytics and other data systems.
- Write efficient, reusable code to model mortgage-backed securities prepayments, valuations, and risk metrics.
Mortgage Analytics & Modeling
- Develop models to analyze and predict agency MBS prepayment behavior, spread movements, and relative value.
- Assist in analyzing specified pools and TBA market dynamics to support trading decisions.
- Create and maintain tools to model interest rate curves, hedging strategies, and portfolio risk.
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Leverage large datasets to extract insights, develop visualizations, and produce actionable reports for senior management.
- Ensure data accuracy and reliability by creating and maintaining automated data pipelines.
- Support the trading and portfolio management teams with ad hoc analysis and scenario modeling.
Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with traders, portfolio managers, and other quantitative analysts to refine and implement strategies.
- Partner with IT and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of tools and data systems.
