As a full-time Social Worker / Domestic Violence Specialist, you will provide assessment, guidance, emotional support, counseling, and resources to Long Islanders in need. Weekly individual LCSW supervision is provided.

As a full-time Social Worker / Domestic Violence Specialist, you will provide assessment, guidance, emotional support, counseling, and resources to families and individuals within a permanent supportive housing program. Weekly individual LCSW supervision is provided. 

 

To succeed, you should have:

  • A MSW and LMSW, or plans to secure the LMSW within 12 months of the hire date 
  • Experience with domestic violence required; homelessness experience a plus
  • Solid Internet experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs required 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills coupled with solid time management and organization skills 
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required 
  • Bilingual English/Spanish speaking preferred

 

Your day-to-day responsibilities as the Social Worker / Domestic Violence Specialist will include:

  • Regular contact with clients, including onsite home visits, office meetings, and other methods
  • Provide therapeutic assessments, feedback, and interventions for areas of concern
  • Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, counseling, and support to adults and children within a permanent supportive housing program for previously homeless domestic violence survivors 
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions for both adults and children  
  • Case management duties include client follow-ups and coordinating care with other service providers
  • Maintaining a regular caseload and assisting clients in setting and tracking short-term and long-term goals toward independence
  • Coordinate services within a multi-disciplinary team, participate in interviews of incoming tenants, and perform other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor
