SUMMARY

This position is responsible for executing 401(k) plan contribution transactions, resulting in the purchase of investment shares, in the 401(k) plan recordkeeping system. 
RESPONSIBILITIES

Under general supervision and moderate decision-making:

•    Processes daily payroll calculated contributions in the 401(k) recordkeeping system, including reconciliation and coordination of funding with other business units.
•    Processes participant-initiated loan payoffs and rollovers, including review of any required supporting documentation and coordination with other business units and third-party service providers.
•    Processes all employer contributions outside of payroll integration, including annual employer contributions, and corrective contributions.
•    Serves as the primary contact for general client and participant level recordkeeping system inquiries related to inbound transactions and investment share purchases.
•    Reviews loan amortization schedules, assures alignment between the recordkeeping and payroll systems, and executes appropriate adjusting entries in the applicable system(s).
•    Responds to inquiries related to rollover contributions from issuing financial institutions. 
•    Updates payroll system with year-to-date contribution amounts from prior payroll providers/employers to aid in regulatory limit monitoring.
•    Participates in enhancement and release testing on the payroll, recordkeeping, and CRM systems. 
•    Performs quality review of inbound transactions performed by other specialists. 
•    Assists in the resolution of participant and plan level issues escalated from internal departments.
•    Prepares, updates, and distributes job aids, as necessary.
•    Contributes to the completion of projects and department objectives as specified by the manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

•    High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate work experience preferred.
•    Three or more years’ experience in a retirement plan administration, benefits administration, payroll processing, human resource, financial services, or bookkeeping/accounting related role preferred.

•    No licenses or certifications required.
•    A willingness to pursue retirement plan certificates, certifications and designations expected for growth.

•    Understanding of retirement plans, specifically 401(k) plans, other benefit plans, or payroll processes preferred.
•    Attention to detail and ability to evaluate large data files is necessary.
•    Solid math aptitude is necessary.
•    Experience with a customer relationship management (CRM), human resource information management (HRIS), or similar database application helpful.
•    Critical thinking, strategic planning, and organizational skills necessary.
•    Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to multi-task necessary.
•    Communicates tactfully and effectively, orally and in writing, and maintains effective work relations with those encountered in the course of employment.
•    Exhibits knowledge of payroll, recordkeeping, and CRM systems.
•    Ability to develop and maintain solid working relationships with internal partners.
•    Ability to maintain the highest level of customer service quality and productivity.
•    Ability to manage all tasks with timeliness and accuracy in a high-volume environment.
