Collections Specialist

What you’ll do as a Collections Specialist
- Monitor and manage delinquent accounts using collection systems, documenting all collection activity, customer interactions, and payment arrangements.
- Communicate with customers to resolve past-due loans, negotiate repayment solutions, and reduce delinquency while maintaining positive customer relationships.
- Research account discrepancies, analyze loan documents and credit data, and resolve posting errors to ensure accurate account status.
- Recommend escalation actions, including repossession, foreclosure, or legal proceedings, in accordance with bank policies and risk management guidelines.
- Prepare collections reports and portfolio tracking, collect applicable fees, and ensure compliance with BSA/AML and federal/state banking regulations.
As a Collections Specialist, you should have
- Associate degree in business, finance, or related field preferred; or 3+ years of collections, banking, or financial services experience with knowledge of consumer, commercial, or mortgage loans.
- Solid knowledge of collections processes, loan servicing, and regulatory compliance, with no specific licenses required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and collections or banking systems, with the ability to analyze financial data and manage accounts.
