Corporate Employee Relations Manager

 

We are currently seeking a Corporate Employee Relations Manager to join our team. With limited supervision, manages the Company’s equal employment opportunity compliance with state and federal laws. Prepares EEO charge responses and serves as primary representative for Insperity. Serves as team lead for daily escalation on complex charges and threated litigation. Manages requirements of changing federal, state, county laws and coordinates across departments to ensure compliance. Manages department project work that requires cross-functional involvement. Much decision-making is attached to this position and is governed by procedures and guidelines with Company-wide impact.



Responsibilities:

  • Manages the Company’s equal employment opportunity (EEO) compliance with state and federal laws. Advises supervisors/management in accordance with laws and regulations.  Conducts investigations, employee counseling, policy development, securing Legal input as necessary.
  • Advises employees on the discrimination complaint processing system in accordance with company policy and EEO laws and regulations.   Mediates employee discrimination and grievance issues. 
  • Prepares EEO charge responses, gathers information, responds to investigator calls, and follows charges through final resolution, including hearing and mediation preparation and appearance. Provides documentation to EEOC to successfully defend any charges made against Company. Serves as primary representative for Insperity.
  • Advises managers on counseling employees and prepares and assists in counseling statements and documentation.  Maintains follow-up for employee relations situations.   Makes on-site visitations as needed.
  • Serves as team lead for daily escalation on complex charges and threated litigation. Works closely with Director on the management of this process as it impacts work flow between this role and the HR specialists and Legal.
  • Manages requirements of a consistently changing landscape of federal, state, county laws.  Coordinates across departments such as Payroll, Recruiting and Compliance to ensure compliance with these changes.  Ensures that required postings and notices are completed. Acts as point of contact in the department to determine how to communicate/educate our employees and managers when necessary.  Keeps updated through various sources such as legal notices, SHRM, BNA. Works with different department that support this function–Legal and the HR COE.
  • Manages and coordinates projects within the Corporate HR department based on department goals and objectives such as the performance management cycle, TimeStar implementation, employee and supervisory training. This includes working with external departments for broader scoped projects that require cross-functional involvement.

 


 Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field is required.
  • Ten plus years minimum Human Resource Generalist experience with emphasis on employee relations is required.  
  • Professional Human Resource (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment and EEO laws and regulations.
  • Ability to apply federal, state, and local laws, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Prepares clear, concise, thorough, and grammatically correct written reports, letters, memoranda, policies, and other written documents.  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and maintains effective work relations with those encountered in the course of employment.
  • Ability to be flexible in handling multiple assignments in a fast paced environment and able to quickly adapt to changing priorities.
  • Experience in handling project work.
  • Ability to interface and influence management at all levels to resolve conflicts.
  • Able to work independently and be a strong team player. 
  • Adheres to principals, practices and procedures of personnel administration and organizational development, including methods and techniques of employee counseling, management and supervisory procedures and practices.
    Travels up to 5% of time
