Senior Accountant (Accountant IV) 

San Antonio, TX – Hybrid: 3 days per week in-office, with an established schedule.

 

The National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders (NALCAB), a one-of-a-kind national intermediary with a network of 200+ Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) and nonprofit organizations serving Latino communities across the U.S., Washington, DC, and Puerto Rico, is seeking a Sr. Accountant (Accountant IV) to strengthen our financial operations and nonprofit accounting infrastructure. As a U.S. Treasury–certified CDFI lender and grantmaker, NALCAB advances Latino economic mobility through funding, training, policy advocacy, and capacity-building programs. In this role, you will support month-end close, financial reporting, and compliance operations, ensuring accurate, audit-ready financial records while managing complex accounting areas related to federal grants, restricted funds, and nonprofit financial reporting

To thrive, you should have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with 7+ years of progressive accounting experience in nonprofit finance, fund accounting, or federal grants accounting; CPA or CPA-track preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years managing federal awards and grant compliance, including experience with Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200), Single Audit preparation, restricted funding, and audit-ready financial documentation.
  • Solid technical expertise in Oracle NetSuite, advanced Microsoft Excel (complex formulas, reconciliations, financial reporting), and general ledger management, with experience supporting Form 990 preparation and nonprofit financial reporting.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced nonprofit accounting environment; bilingual English/Spanish preferred and ability to travel up to 10% as needed.

 

Your key responsibilities as the Sr. Accountant (Accountant IV) will include:

  • Lead key components of the month-end close and general ledger process, including preparing complex journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and maintaining schedules that support accurate financial statements and consolidated reporting.
  • Support accounting and compliance for federal grants and restricted funding, ensuring adherence to 2 CFR 200 (Uniform Guidance), proper cost allocation, grant coding, and audit-ready documentation for Single Audit and grant reporting.
  • Assist with nonprofit financial compliance and external reporting, including preparation of support schedules for Form 990, grant reporting, and financial audits, in coordination with the Controller, CFO, and external auditors.
  • Strengthen internal controls, GAAP-compliant nonprofit accounting practices, and NetSuite financial systems, collaborating cross-functionally with program and operations teams to improve financial processes, reporting accuracy, and data integrity.
