The Vice President, Mortgage leads an enterprise-wide mortgage business with a goal of building a high-performance team and tasked with managing various functions and supported by operational, investor management and technology leads. This position manages a division of mortgage employees accountable for fulfillment, investor management and mortgage technology and will also chair the Bank’s Mortgage Committee.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Manages mortgage processing, mortgage underwriting, mortgage closing and shipping units.
  • Provides training for new and existing loan originators in division’s loan pre-qualifying, submission, approval, and compliance policies and procedures.
  • Ensures adherence to Liberty Bank and Trust underwriting standards as described in the Bank’s loan policy, Federal Regulations and State Laws.
  • Writes and revises all mortgage policies and procedures including providing assistance in creating new loan products.
  • Manages the CALYX reporting requirements. 
  • Manages the internal development, product communication and external participation of Liberty Bank in Trust in special lending programs and initiatives.
  • Assists with compliance procedures and monitoring. 
  • Manages the Retail and Wholesale lending operations for the Bank including growing sales teams and Loan Production Offices consistent with Bank objectives. 
  • Manages the production and delivery of residential mortgage loans to the secondary market and Bank portfolio in accordance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations.
  • Negotiates with investors relating to the sale of whole loans/MBS to investors. 
  • Fulfills on services by maintaining the mortgage origination and fulfillment process across affiliates, managing select third-party vendors & Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and measuring performance.
  • Conducts voice of the customer (VOC) surveys.
  • Develops and maintains Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Framework. Tracks and monitor KPIs across affiliates and collectively. Benchmarks internally and externally against industry standards. 
  • Works collectively with the Bank Leadership to identify measure, monitor and control balance sheet mortgage portfolio risks in accordance with Bank policies, standards and applicable regulatory guidelines.  
  • Manages and or delivers an operating model to include architecture which; considers the end-to-end processes involved for originating and servicing a mortgage by channel and by customer segment, supports considerations with the appropriate metrics and SLAs, and determines what future technology platforms are required to support the mortgage strategy and the technology provisioning options.
  • Leads council of affiliate mortgage executives with the goal of continued process and profitability improvements, including sharing of ideas and best practices and opportunities to increase mortgage origination volume. 
  • Creates a roadmap and business case for, the key transition points to move from current state to target state; each transition state, determine what are the projects required to deliver the desired transition state outcomes and the investments required (one off and ongoing) to implement the target operating model.
  • Ensures a positive management environment is created so that subordinates can maximize their performance and individual contributions; Rewards and recognizes performance of employees by utilizing established programs and sources.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications: 

 

  • Advanced knowledge of mortgage lending and departmental practices including a strong understanding of back shop functions, coupled with a broad working knowledge of related fields.
  • Advanced change management, organization, problem resolution, and communication skills, both verbal and written. 
  • A “sales closing” mentality along with the skills to handle questions and last-minute changes under pressure to help your clients secure their mortgage.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and a track record of building high-performing teams.
  • Commitment to upholding the highest ethical standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to write reports, correspondence, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities.
  • Proven ability to generate new ideas, concepts, processes, actions, or solutions that are original, useful, unusual, and appropriate.
  • Must be able to maintain confidential information and records.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills.
