As a talented Controller, you play a pivotal role in overseeing all aspects of the company’s financial operations and serving as an economic advisor to the President and the executive team. You will also work closely with the Finance team to ensure compliance with accounting policies and reporting requirements. As a manager, you will lead the accounting team’s performance, growth, and development and handle complex and confidential financial responsibilities.

 

To thrive, you should bring with you:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance, accounting, or business administration.
  • 10 years of relevant accounting experience, including personnel management. Broad administration experience managing all accounting functions and tasks. 
  • Experience working in a custom equipment fabrication or project-based business with percent complete/earned value accounting.        Experience with government contracts preferred. Experience with CAS Compliance, FAR, DFAR, and GSA is preferred. Expertise with ERP-based accounting systems.  
  • Proven track record in procedural automation.
  • Strong analytical and computational skills.
  • Highly organized, critical thinker with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Suite, especially Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 

Your responsibilities as the Controller will include:

  • Oversee all aspects of Finance and Accounting operations, including financial reporting (monthly, quarterly, and annual), forecasting, budgeting, economic analysis, and cash management.
  • Set an example for all team members by exemplifying our core values (Innovative, Accountable, Collaborative, Tenacious – with Integrity).        Demonstrate this through work ethic, behavior, and personal character.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial information and reports to the President, management team, ownership group’s Finance team, internal stakeholders, auditors, and external agencies.
  • Manage the Accounting Team.
  • Manage all Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) cycles with external partners and customers, including system and control improvements.
  • Establish work center rates based on the annual budget, including fixed and variable OH, and establish SG&A rates for direct and indirect labor. Analyze and direct all cost accounting procedures.
  • Review and assess regular transactions, investments, and business opportunities affecting the company’s financial performance.
  • Ensure accurate accounting records and monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
  • Monitor all business transactions and collaborate with other department managers.
  • Continuously improve team productivity and cross-functional processes.
  • Partner with the President and ownership group to support corporate finance activities.
  • Develop and present monthly financial results to the management and ownership group’s Finance teams.
  • Manage cash function and cash flow forecasting.
  • Prepare the annual budget with the management team and ownership group.
  • Manage annual financial statement audits and assist with tax return preparation.
  • Coordinate insurance and tax compliance in coordination with the ownership group.
  • Ensure compliance with any debt covenants.
