Non-Profit Finance Director

As the Non-Profit Finance Director, you will ensure that Houston in Action meets all financial obligations to the government, members, partners, and funders. You will provide information to the internal team, members, and partners in a transparent and easily understood way.

 

To thrive/succeed, you should have:        

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • 4-10 years of experience in a financial leadership position.
  • Experience working with non-profit finances.
  • Exceptional ability to monitor, allocate, and control finances on a large scale.
  • In-depth knowledge of finance, accounting, and numeracy.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Ability to present financial analysis and projections to organizational members.
  • Excellent problem-solving attitude and abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Basecamp, CRM, and accounting systems.

 

Your responsibilities as the Non-Profit Finance Director will include:        

  • Directing budgeting, auditing, taxing, accounting, purchasing, forecasting, and insurance activities.
  • Establishing a financial vision, objectives, and policies aligned with the strategic plan.
  • Reviewing monthly performance, conducting financial analysis, and advising senior management and the Board.
  • Ensuring timely compliance with state requirements and financial obligations.
  • Analyzing the financial impact of new contracts, and supporting negotiations.
  • Issuing periodic reports on financial stability and growth and overseeing annual reporting.
  • Establishing and maintaining partner contacts, building fiscal sponsorship programs, and providing reports for grants.
